Our Kiwanis Club recognizes, supports and encourages students, through example, so they feel empowered to do great things in their communities. We support and advise the Key Clubs at Gainesville High School and Patriot High School. Our Kiwanis Club also raises funds to support the Key Club service projects and enable student participation in Key Club service leadership programs and conferences. Key Clubs are the high school level of our Kiwanis family of clubs.
Little Free Libraries, our Signature Project
The mission of the Little Free Library network is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through Little Free Library book exchange boxes. Our Club proudly provided, maintains and replenishes the books at two Little Free Library boxes; one in Haymarket Park and one in Rollins Ford Park. Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy.
Cub Scout & Scouts Sponsors
Our Kiwanis Club is proud to charter Cub Scout Pack 107 and Scout Troop 1882 who serve the Haymarket and Gainesville areas. Cub Scout Pack 107 welcomes boys and girls in grades K-5 for fun, adventure and learning. Scout Troop 1882 is a boy’s troop. The objective is to develop character, citizenship and personal fitness in each of their Scouts through exciting outdoor programs, educational weekly meetings and their advancement program.
Boxes of Basics Partnership
Our Kiwanis Club is a corporate member of Boxes of Basics, a nonprofit working to fight clothing insecurity by providing local children in need of quality new/used seasonal clothing. Each box we pack for children who have been identified by community, church and school leaders contains an entire seasonal wardrobe, books and a toothbrush, and is packed with love. We support Boxes of Basics with a monthly monetary donation as well as packing boxes.
Haymarket Town Police Department
Our Kiwanis Club is proud to participate in the Haymarket Police Department’s annual National Night Out, held on the first Tuesday in August. National Night Out is a community building campaign promoting police-community partnerships. At this event residents and law enforcement come together to foster safer and more caring communities through activities, safety demos and fun.
